CAIRO, May 19, 2018 (MENA) - The Ministry of Health and Population denied what has been circulated in some media outlets and social media about a strange insect that infected a young man in the lush Maadi district in Cairo causing a skin rash to spread to all parts of his body. In press statements, spokesman for the ministry Khalid Megahid said that a complaint was received from one of the citizens through the hotline of the preventive medicine sector "105", stating that there was an insect that caused an inflammation to the body of a young man. He said that reacting to the complaint a health investigative team of relevant medical departments was formed to examine the case of the 27-year-old mentally retarded man who lives with his parents and showed symptoms of skin inflammation when he returned to his family home after disappearing and getting lost in the streets for over five days. No strange insect was found, the spokesman asserted, noting that the case was that of lice infestation and poor personal hygiene.
