Kampala, Uganda, May 15, 2018 (News Wires) - Saddam Juma snatched a 75th minute goal and Timothy Awanyi converted a late penalty as Uganda's Kampala City defeated eight- time winners Al-Ahly 2-0 at Namboole in their CAF Champions League tie on Tuesday. Kampala City coach Mike Mutebi had predicted a flow of goals, but when halftime ended 0-0 and it looked that is how the final whistle would find it – Sadam Juma struck. Charles Lukwago earlier saved a 26th minute penalty to keep the score goal-less at half time in the Group A CAF Champions league match in which the Egyptians had a lot of ball possession, but failed to crack the Ugandans. It is a ‘new' ground, new CAF territory but Kampala City coach Mutebi had said pre-match, confident his side can get their first points of the CAF Champions League. Led by Muhammed Shaban and teenage prodigy Allan Okello, Kampala City were confident they would maintain their perfect home record in continental competition this season. " I have a group of players who are quite expressive. Fans should expect a very entertaining game at the Mandela National Stadium on Tuesday. I do not care if we win 4 -3," said Mutebi hours to the match. Both clubs began their Group A campaigns disappointingly with eight-time winners Ahly held 0-0 at home by Esperance of Tunisia and Kampala losing 1-0 away to Township Rollers of Botswana.
