CAIRO, May 6, 2018 (MENA) - The Egyptian Armed Forces vow to maintain sacrifices and stay loyal to their mission to defend the homeland and meet people's trust, Minister of Defense and Military Production Sedqi Sobhi said on Sunday. Addressing a celebration held to honor a galaxy of military commanders who retired last January, the minister described Armed Forces servicemen as the nation's protective shield at all times. Sobhi greeted the souls of the martyrs who sacrificed themselves to defend the nation, stressing that protecting Egypt and defending its national security is an indispensable holy duty. The General Commander of the Armed Force bestowed the second-class Order of the Republic on the retired commanders, after the approval of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, in appreciation of their efforts and devotion in performing their duties throughout their career. He conveyed president Sisi's greetings and appreciation for them for spending their lives serving the Armed Forces honestly during the most difficult moments of Egypt's history. Sobhi thanked families of the honored commanders in light of the social responsibility they endured to prepare generations capable of serving others. Meanwhile, the oldest commander delivered a speech during the celebration to thank the Armed Forces for the care shown for them and their families during their entire career. Sunday's event was attended by Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Mohamed Farid along with a host of high-ranking military chiefs and their families.
