CAIRO, May 3 (MENA) – Al Azhar Grand Imam Dr Ahmed el Tayyeb left Indonesia Thursday heading for Singapore on the second leg of an Asian tour, which will take him also to Brunei. Tayyeb was seen off at the airport by Indonesia's Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Honorary President of the World Association for Al Azhar Graduates in Indonesia Muhammad Shihab and Egypt's Ambassador in Jakarta Amr Moawad. During his four-day visit, the Grand Imam held talks with Indonesian President Joko Widodo, in the presence of senior Indonesian officials, Al Azhar Sheikhdom said in a statement. Indonesia's Vice President Muhammad Jusuf Kalla hosted a luncheon for Dr Tayyeb and his accompanying delegation, the statement added. On his second day of the visit, he headed for Surakarta city to chair the general conference of Al Azhar graduates in Indonesia, the statement read. Also, Dr Tayyeb visited the branch of Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta and held an open meeting with some professors and students, the statement said. During his stay in Surakarta, Tayyeb toured the girls' college at Dar ul Salaam Contour University, which includes about 3,000 female students, the statement noted. About 30 scholarships will be extended to Indonesian students, the statement quoted Tayyeb as saying.
