CAIRO, April 30, 2018 (MENA) - Indonesian President Joko Widodo received Monday Al Azhar Grand Imam Dr Ahmed El Tayyeb in Jakarta, who is currently on an Asian tour, including Singapore and Brunei. Both sides reviewed current Islamic issues and cultural and scientific co-operation between Egypt and Indonesia, particularly with Al Azhar institution. The Indonesian president welcomed the grand imam, lauding his role in the service of Islam and his support to the Islamic issues. He also expressed hope for further development of ties with Egypt and Al Azhar. Earlier on Sunday, the grand imam was received at Jakarta airport by Muhammad Syamsuddin, the Indonesian president's special envoy for inter-religious and civilisation co-operation and dialogue, and a number of Egyptian and Arab diplomats there. Dr Tayyeb will hold talks with senior Indonesian officials and partake in the inauguration of the international conference of Islam's moderation as he will deliver the keynote address at the conference.
