CAIRO, April 28, 2018 (MENA) - President Abdel Fattah El Sisi attended on Saturday the 28th awareness seminar organized by the Armed Forces' Morale Affairs Department at Al Manara Center for International Conferences in coincidence with Egypt's celebrations with Sinai Liberation Day. The seminar kicked off with a documentary produced by the Morale Affairs Department entitled "Sinai A Legend of Place and A People Epic". It tackled the strategic and historic importance of Sinai besides its history as a land of of prophets and heavenly religions. The documentary, in which most up-to-date filming techniques were used, shows the course of sacrifices of the Armed Forces and police in their fight against terrorism. It also dealt with the efforts of the State and the Armed Forces in developing Sinai via establishing mega national projects such as upgrading road networks and constructing tunnels, floating bridges, industrial zones and new cities which fulfill the needs of Sinai residents as well as their aspirations in achieving comprehensive and sustainable development. President Abdel Fattah el Sisi expressed his gratitude to Sinai residents, stressing that they are not to bear responsibility for the "evil people's acts." We are totally aware that terrorism also exists outside Sinai, the president told a seminar organized by the Armed Forces on the occasion of the 36th anniversary of Sinai Liberation Day. The president noted that the Sinai residents share the burden of the difficult measures taken in the current stage, commending in this regard their national role. The state is developing Sinai, Sisi said, noting that he ordered shortening the period of a plan to develop the governorate. During the event, Arab League (AL) Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit underlined that Egypt fought a political and diplomatic war after the 6th of October War to liberate Sinai totally and enhance the pillars of peace and stability in the region. Presidential Aide for National Projects Ibrahim Mahlab reviewed the State's efforts to develop the peninsula in the fields of housing, infrastructure and upgrading roads networks to link Sinai with the Suez Canal's cities. He further pointed out to the ventures of medical care and agricultural and industrial development being implemented in the region. The seminar included a show performed by a chorus of Cairo Opera House in cooperation with the Youth and Sports Ministry. They chanted patriotic songs. The event was attended by Prime Minister Sherif Ismail, Defense and Military Production Minister Sedki Sobhi and a number of ministers and governors and top brass.
