CAIRO, April 28, 2018 (MENA) - Egypt's Speaker of the House of Representatives Ali Abdel Aal stressed the need for cooperation and coordination of Mediterranean countries to overcome the dangers and threats atop of which comes terrorism. Abdel Aal was addressing the opening session of the fifth summit of the 14th Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean, which started on Saturday at the parliament's headquarters. It is important for Mediterranean countries to work for reaching a joint vision on achieving peace and stability in the region, the Speaker said. The conference will last for two days with speakers of parliaments of the union countries attending. Abdel Aal said the conference focuses on reaching ways to fight terrorism and extremism in the Euro-Mediterranean region. Terror threats pose big dangers to security and stability of all countries in the region, the speaker added. He said he looks forward that the Parliamentary Assembly plays a pivotal role in developing mechanisms for cooperation of Mediterranean countries to fight terrorism.
