GENEVA, March 25, 2018 - Parliament Speaker Ali Abdel Aal participated yesterday in the meetings of the general assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), which started in Geneva on Saturday and will end on March 28. The meetings will discuss a flurry of issues relating to boosting co-operation among parliaments around the world for achieving development and combating terrorism and extremism. The meetings will also tackle political, economic and social crises in the different countries of the world. Dr Abdel Aal, on Saturday, chaired a meeting of the delegations of Arab parliaments to draft an urgent item to be filed with the general assembly tomorrow, to maintain the legal status of the city of Al Quds (Jerusalem). Abdel Aal reviewed, during the meeting, a proposal to form a sub-committee with the aim of studying amendments to the main system of the Union's statute to avoid any divisions among the members of the IPU.
