CAIRO, April 28, 2018 (MENA) - Egypt's Administrative Control Authority suspended a number of officials in New Cairo city council over the torrential rain crisis in some areas in the city. The authority said in a statement on Saturday that it implemented President Abdel Fattah el Sisi's directives to stand on causes of the crisis following torrential rain that hit several parts of Cairo and Giza; especially that the Egyptian Meteorological Authority has warned of unstable weather. The accumulated water exceeded the capacity of some lifting stations in the city, causing heavy damage in the drainage system in the city, the authority said in the statement. It said failures were reported in several water stations, power generators and fire networks in New Cairo, which, it added is a "crime" squandering public funds.
