CAIRO, April 26, 2018 - Minister of Culture Dr Enas Abdel Dayem on Wednesday stressed the importance of enhancing cultural co-operation between Egypt and Saudi Arabia as the two countries are considered the guardians of the Arab identity. Minister Abdel Dayem was speaking during the first concert performed by the Egyptian Opera House in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Wednesday evening. Around 45 artists from the Arab Music Band of the King Fahd Cultural Centre performed at the concert, which was attended by the Saudi Minister of Culture and Information, Dr Awad bin Saleh al-Awad. About 3,000 Saudi, Egyptian, and Arab spectators attended the event, which ended Thursday evening. In a statement on the sidelines of the event, Dr Abdel Dayem hailed the steps Saudi Arabia has taken recently to boost cultural and artistic relations with Arab countries, particularly Egypt. She confirmed that the initiative of cultural openness was giving relations between two countries a boost at every level, in away that was of benefit to the Egyptian and Saudi peoples. The Saudi Minister of Culture and Information welcomed Minister Abdel-Dayem and her accompanying delegation which included intellectuals, artists and media people. He added that hosting concerts by the Arab Music Band was an affirmation of the brotherly relations binding Saudi Arabia and Egypt.
