Cairo, March 20 - Foreign Minister Sameh Shukri will leave for New Delhi on Wednesday to head the Egyptian delegation in the seventh session of the Egyptian-Indian joint committee, which will begin its meetings on Thursday at the level of senior officials.Meanwhile, the meetings will start at the ministerial level on March 23. During his visit to New Delhi, Shukri will meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to deliver a letter from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on ways to strengthen bilateral relations. During the visit, the minister will discuss the bilateral relations between the two countries and means of developing them in all fields, as well as regional and international issues of common concern. The visit comes within the framework of the historical relations between the two countries as Egypt is keen to develop co-operation with India in all fields, said spokesperson for the Ministry of foreign Affairs, Ahmed Abu zeid. He added that the economic co-operation between the two countries is particularly important given the fact that the total Indian investments in Egypt exceed three billion dollars, while the volume of trade between the two countries exceeded two billion dollars in 2017. He also underlined the strong cultural cooperation between both countries including holding cultural events or providing scholarships for Indian and Egyptian students. During the visit, the Minister will also participate in the economic forum organised by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry in cooperation with the Egyptian Commercial Office in New Delhi. Minister Shukri is scheduled to deliver a lecture at the research center affiliated to the Bharatiya Janata party, during which he will discuss Egypt's vision of several regional and international developments. He will also hold talks with his Indian counterpart.
