CAIRO, March 13, 2018 - The Italian Ambassador in Cairo, Giampaolo Cantini, on Tuesday praised the success achieved in Zohr offshore natural gas field in the Mediterranean Sea which was discovered by Italian company Eni. Ambassador Cantini, who was received by Minister of Petroleum and Metallurgical Wealth Tarek el-Mulla, said the production rates in the field had achieved unprecedented record numbers. During the meeting the two sides discussed means of enhancing co-operation between Cairo and Rome in all fields. Mr Cantini affirmed the depth of relations binding Cairo and Rome in all domains. He also noted that the Italian companies working in Egypt have achieved a lot of distinguished and fruitful results, stressing that his country was looking forward to increasing the volume of investments in Egypt in various fields, especially in the gas and oil sector that has witnessed a remarkable progress and development over the past period. During the meeting, Minister el-Mulla and Ambassador Cantini reviewed the available investment opportunities in the oil sector during the next stage.
