Egypt's Ministry of Health welcomed Singapore's Senior Minister of State for Health, Tan Kiat How, and his accompanying delegation for an official visit to the Nasser Institute for Research and Treatment in Cairo, held from September 20 to 22, 2025, as part of broader efforts to deepen international collaboration in healthcare. According to Health Ministry spokesperson Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the visit included a comprehensive tour of the institute's departments to assess its integrated medical services. The delegation also received a presentation on the institute's development plan to transform it into "Nile Medical City"—a national flagship healthcare project. The upgraded facility is set to include state-of-the-art surgical units and specialized departments in cardiology, oncology, neurology, hepatology, gastroenterology, and other critical medical fields. As part of the program, the Singaporean officials also visited Palestinian patients receiving treatment at the institute, underscoring the humanitarian dimension of the visit and Egypt's role in providing regional medical support. The visit will conclude on September 22 with a Scientific Day, featuring lectures and hands-on workshops by leading Singaporean physicians in key specialties such as pediatric oncology, hematology, lupus, and nephrology. The program will also include direct medical consultations, aimed at fostering knowledge exchange and capacity-building for Egyptian medical professionals. Abdel Ghaffar noted that the visit reflects Egypt's commitment to strengthening global healthcare partnerships and leveraging international expertise to enhance the quality and reach of its national health services.
