Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty met with Bahraini Crown Prince and Prime Minister Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa and Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani in Manama on Monday. The meetings focused on strengthening bilateral ties and addressing regional issues.
In his meeting with the Crown Prince, Abdelatty expressed Egypt's eagerness for the Crown Prince's upcoming visit to Egypt, his first bilateral trip since assuming the role of Prime Minister. They plan to discuss economic and investment cooperation and explore investment opportunities in Egypt.
Abdelatty highlighted the importance of enhancing bilateral economic, investment, and trade relations and emphasized the need for thorough preparation for the upcoming second meeting of the Egyptian-Bahraini Joint Committee for Trade, Economic, Scientific, and Technological Cooperation. He also highlighted the potential for Egyptian companies to contribute to infrastructure projects in Bahrain and outlined recent structural reforms to Egypt's investment climate.
During his meeting with the Bahraini Foreign Minister, Abdelatty underscored the deep fraternal ties between the two countries and conveyed Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's directives to elevate bilateral relations.
He reaffirmed Egypt's support for Bahrain, emphasizing the importance of Gulf security as integral to Egyptian national security, and praised the ongoing coordination on regional issues. Abdelatty also expressed Egypt's appreciation for the Bahraini King's support for the Egyptian community in Bahrain. He highlighted the potential use of an online platform created by the Egyptian Ministry of Labour to facilitate the recruitment of skilled Egyptian workers to meet Bahrain's labour market needs.
The discussions also covered trade and investment cooperation, with Abdelatty emphasizing the importance of joint manufacturing and industrial integration among Arab states. He highlighted Egypt's interest in strengthening its presence in the global clean energy market.
Both meetings addressed regional developments, including the Gaza ceasefire implementation, humanitarian aid delivery, and the situation in Syria.
During his visit, Abdelatty also toured the "Madar" political operations centre at the Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs and discussed ways to enhance cooperation and exchange expertise between the two ministries. He also presented the Egyptian Foreign Ministry's efforts to modernize consular services through digitalization.
