205k tonnes of fodder supplies worth $100m released from ports within 7 days: Agriculture Minister
Published in Daily News Egypt on 13 - 06 - 2023

Elsayed Elkosayer, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, announced Monday that 205,000 tonnes of fodder supplies worth $100m were released from Egyptian ports from 2 to 8 June, an increase of 49,000 tonnes over the previous week.
He said that the released shipments comprised 149,000 tonnes of corn, at a value of $53.4m, and 56,000 tonnes of soybeans, at a value of $42m, as well as feed additives worth $5m.
He said that during the past two weeks only, more than 360,000 tonnes of fodder requirements have been released, stressing that the increase in releases with the decrease in the prices of production requirements globally should contribute to a decrease in the prices of feed-related commodities, calling on everyone to assume their national responsibility at this stage.
He pointed out that the state spares no effort in providing hard currency in order to release production requirements to provide basic commodities to citizens at reasonable prices.
The Minister of Agriculture added that the total that was released during the period from 16 October 2022 to 8 June, amounted to about 5.6 million tonnes, including 4.2 million tonnes of corn, 1.4 million tonnes of soybeans and feed additives, with a total of $2.7bn.
He confirmed that the release aims to provide quantities of corn and soy in the market, which are the basic ingredients for poultry feed, as well as farm animals.
He emphasized that there is continuous follow-up and full coordination with the Central Bank and with the support of the Prime Minister personally to release appropriate quantities of corn, soybeans, raw materials and feed additives from Egyptian ports to support this industry.
