Over 30 million women received medical services within the presidential initiative: Health Ministry

Egypt's Ministry of Health and Population announced that 35 million, 642, 996 women have visited hospitals to receive examination and awareness services, as part of the president of the republic's initiative to support the health of Egyptian women, since its launch in July 2019.
Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesperson for the ministry, called on women to periodically check on their health status through the services provided by the initiative, pointing out that there are 8 million, 680, 785 women who received re-examination services and annual periodic follow-ups within the initiative.
He also stressed that early diagnosis and detection of breast tumours contribute to reducing the burden on the patient and the state through an effective response to the treatment protocols provided by the initiative free of charge, according to the latest international standards.
Abdel Ghaffar stated that 539,450 women attended hospitals to conduct advanced check-ups within the initiative, pointing out that the initiative provides its free services to examine women through 3,538 health units nationwide, in addition to the participation of 102 hospitals, to provide medical service to women whose condition requires to perform an advanced check.
The initiative targets women from the age of 18 and includes screening for non-communicable diseases (diabetes, blood pressure, measuring weight and height, determining body mass index, and the level of obesity or overweight), in addition to raising awareness of the risk factors that cause non-communicable diseases, in addition to raising awareness of reproductive health and family planning.
For his part, Ahmed Morsi, the Executive Director of the initiative, indicated that 18,954 cases of breast cancer had been discovered, and 292,786 mammograms had been conducted since the launch of the initiative, in addition to the withdrawal of 28,859 tumour samples for analysis.
