South Korean Ambassador visits South Sinai to prepare for flourishing people-to-people exchanges
Published in Daily News Egypt on 20 - 03 - 2023

Ambassador of South Korea to Egypt, Hong Jin-wook, met with Governor of South Sinai Khaled Fouda on Saturday, to prepare for flourishing people-to-people exchanges between the two nations.
Ambassador Hong first congratulated South Sinai Governorate for its successful hold of COP27. According to Ambassador Hong, after his last visit to South Sinai in June 2022, Egypt's travel advisory level for Korean citizens was lowered last August for the first time in 8 years. He stated that this change along with direct flights between Korea and Egypt, which is expected to resume this year, is already attracting a great number of Korean tourists to Egypt and especially to South Sinai. He delivered his conviction that such progress in people-to-people exchange will be the cornerstone for making our bilateral relations sustainable.
Governor Fouda expressed his gratitude toward the Korean government and the embassy for promoting active people-to-people exchange and mentioned that the governorate will also make efforts for the safe and pleasant stay of Korean travelers. Moreover, he welcomed the suggestion of establishing sister relationships between the South Sinai and the Jeju Governorate, which will further the people-to-people exchange.
Ambassador Hong stayed in South Sinai from 17 to 20 March and will visit St. Catherine, Taba, and Dahab to check if any further measures are needed for the security and safety measures of the Korean tourists visiting the region.
