Egypt's Ministry of Manpower, the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), and the National Coordinating Committee for Combating and Preventing Illegal Migration and Trafficking in Persons (NCCPIM&TIP) organised two training workshops for labour inspectors on smuggling of migrants in Luxor on 21-23 February and 26-28 February. These are the third and fourth rounds of the training that have already been organized in Giza and Minya. Eva Suárez, Head of the AECID, and Khaled Elnakkady, Head of Migration and Anti-Smuggling Unit of the NCCPIM&TIP, awarded diplomas to the 25 labour inspectors coming from Beni Suef, Sohag, Assiut, Red Sea, Qena, and Cairo, who participated in the third training workshop. Mohamed Elnahas, Head of the Planning Department at the Ministry of Manpower, joined the fourth workshop that included 24 labour inspectors from Assiut, Sohag, Qena, Luxor, Aswan, Red Sea, and New Valley. The training encompassed strengthening the country's institutional mechanisms for managing migration, focusing on understanding the key national legal frameworks, the labor inspector mission, referral paths and assistance to migrant workers, and providing practical case studies in collaboration with the International Labor Organization (ILO). The Cooperation on Migration Governance project is dedicated to improving the governance of migration in Egypt. In this project, the AECID works closely with the NCCPIM&TIP to reinforce the capacities of all involved stakeholders to make migration a driving force of development. The training covered all dimensions of migration governance in a comprehensive manner in line with the objectives of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration.
