12.4 % decrease in trade deficit in June 2022

Egypt's trade deficit reached $3.21bn in June 2022, down from $3.66bn for the same month of previous year, a decrease of 12.4%, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics.
Egypt's exports decreased by 3.3% to $3.75bn during June 2022, versus $3.88bn for the same month of previous year, due to a decrease in value of some commodities such as: fertilizers by 20.9%, pasta and food preparations by 8.7%, flat-rolled products of iron or steel by 31.7%, bars- rods- angles and wires of iron by 6.8%.
Meanwhile, the value of some exports increased during June 2022, such as oil and natural gas products by 49.4%, crude oil by 15.6%, ready-made clothes by 12.7%, and plastics in their primary forms by 29.4%.
The value of imports also decreased by 7.7 % to $6.96bn during June 2022, versus $7.54bn for the same month of previous year, due to a decreased in the value of some commodities, such as raw materials of iron or steel by 2.7%, plastics in their primary forms by 9.9%, medicines and pharmaceutical preparations by 3.5%, and soybeans by 35.3%.
The value of other imports increased in June 2022, such as oil products by 165.8%, crude oil by 9.7%, corn by 50.1%, and wheat by 238.4%.
