Egyptian Fencing Federation puts final touches for hosting World Championships in Cairo

President of the Egyptian Federation of Fencing (EFF) Abdel Moneim Al-Husseini has met with Vice-President of the International Fencing Federation (FIE), to discuss preparations for Egypt's hosting of the World Fencing Championships, scheduled to start in mid-July 2022.
Samir Al-Maidani, the EFF board member, was assigned as the director of the upcoming competition after his success in leading the World Cup and the Fencing Grand Prix, which were organized by the EFF in February and April.
Al-Husseini stressed that the upcoming world championship represents a great challenge for the federation. However, he expressed his full confidence in the capabilities of Al-Maidani, pointing out that he has great experience in organising championships.
On the other hand, the Board of Directors approved the participation of the Egyptian women's team in the World Championship, which will be held in Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates, from 13 to 15 May. The Egyptian women's team includes Naderin Ehab, Sherawat Jaber, Minh Allah Hani, Aya Sherif, and Lama Hazen. A total of 186 players will participate in the individual competitions, and 26 countries participate in the team competitions. The championship activities are scheduled to start on Friday with individual competitions, which will continue until Saturday, while the team competitions will be held on Sunday.
Moreover, the Egyptian men's team will participate in the World Cup, which will be held in Heidenheim, Germany, from 12 to 14 May. The Egyptian team includes Mohamed El-Sayed, Ahmed El-Sayed, Ahmed El-Sukari, Mohamed Yassin, and Ahmed Yasser. Total 264 players will participate in the individual competitions, and 35 countries are participating in the team competitions. The individual competitions will start on Thursday 12 May, and the team competitions will take place on Saturday.
Egyptian fencing player Mohamed El-Sayed ranked twelfth in the world. He will start his run in the tournament on Friday, in the 64 round being in the top 16 list. The rest of the Egyptian players will participate in the group stage, which will start Thursday.
