Egypt's Minister of Environment, Yasmine Fouad, discussed with Michele Quaroni, the Italian ambassador in Cairo, the bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the field of environment and preparations for the upcoming COP27 climate conference, the Environment Ministry said in a statement on Monday.
Yasmine stressed the extended and constructive relations of cooperation between the two countries in the fields of environment, and the upcoming opportunities for cooperation, especially in light of a number of global events that will take place in the coming period in the field of environment and climate, including the COP27.
The Minister of Environment noted that Egypt, during its presidency of the COP27, aims to build on the outcomes of the Glasgow Conference and the progress achieved in the negotiation tracks, and to encourage countries to update their strategies for national contributions and raise ambition.
Yasmine pointed to the possibility of cooperation with Italy in the initiative related to the ecosystem and biodiversity.
For his part, the Italian ambassador praised Egypt's interest in raising the issue of water management within the initiatives of the conference, and his country's interest in it, especially with the scarcity of natural resources in them, which prompted them to work on the concept of a revolving economy and the development of water management systems and technology.
Quaroni pointed out the possibility of his country's contribution to presenting actual models in the field of circular economy and technology through some Italian companies, as well as in the field of converting cars to work with natural gas and its relationship to confronting climate change, and green hydrogen projects.
