Health Ministry ready to medically secure 'Rams Road' reopening

Egypt's Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and acting Minister of Health and Population, Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, has announced the ministry's plan to medically secure the reopening of the Rams Road in Luxor, on 25 November.
He held a meeting with the Health Ministry officials to discuss the plan, which includes the provision of medical, preventive, and ambulatory services to all participants in the opening ceremony, in addition to taking all precautionary measures in light of the coronavirus pandemic, in coordination with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.
During the meeting, Abdel Ghaffar reviewed the concentration points of urgent medical services in the vicinity of the celebrations area, where the plan includes the provision of 18 equipped ambulances, two river ambulances, in addition to four mobile clinics that include specialties (internity, heart, surgery, orthopedics).
The minister also affirmed the readiness of Luxor hospitals and raised their level of readiness to the maximum, explaining that the plan includes allocating 5 hospitals within the comprehensive health insurance system in Luxor with a capacity of 644 beds, to receive any cases.
He further pointed to the ministry's support of these hospitals with additional medical teams in critical specialties, pointing to the availability of sufficient stock of medicines, medical and preventive supplies, blood bags and its derivatives, in addition to preparing a rapid deployment team with the aim of intervention and providing rapid support in the event of any emergency.
Moreover, the spokesperson for the Health Ministry, Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, noted that the minister stressed the implementation of all preventive and precautionary measures for the coronavirus, starting with the quarantine at Cairo and Luxor international airports.
