Transport Minister follows up on implementation progress of high-speed electric train
Egypt is establishing a network of high-speed electric trains with a total length of about 2,000 km.

Kamel El-Wazir, the Egyptian Minister of Transport, met on Tuesday with Roland Bosch, President of the German international company Siemens, to follow up on the implementation of the Ain Sokhna – El Alamein – Matrouh high-speed electric train project.
Egypt is establishing a network of high-speed electric trains with a total length of about 2,000 km.
According to a statement on Tuesday, Siemens President Bosch praised the success of the TransMEA 2021 Exhibition and Conference, and the effective participation of major international companies specialized in the transport field.
He affirmed full commitment to the implementation of all systems works for the project, which are represented in: signals, communications, railway works, electromechanical works, and others, in addition to the manufacture and supply of mobile units of all kinds, including express trains, regional trains, and electric tractors, as well as the supply and installation of railway works.
This is in addition to designing the workshop, supplying and installing its equipment according to the specified times, in conjunction with the civil and construction works of the bridge and stations of the project, which is being implemented by major national Egyptian companies.
The talks also touched on the ongoing negotiations between the two sides to quickly sign the contract for the second line of the network, which is the line (6th of October – Aswan) and the third line (Hurghada – Safaga – QenaLuxor), to represent this cooperation a major breakthrough in the field of joint cooperation.
The minister stressed that the political leadership directives to establish factories for international companies such as Siemens in Egypt to be a nucleus for the global industry, whether for the Egyptian market, Africa or the Middle East, as well as the localization of the transport industry with Egyptian factories and companies such as SEMAF or the Egyptian national Nerk, in addition to the necessity of maximizing and strengthening the local feeding industries.
Siemens confirmed that it will support the localisation of this industry in Egypt, so that it could be a gateway to Africa.
