Egypt's Shoukry meets Comoros President on 2nd leg of African tour
President Al-Sisi sends message to Comorian counterpart on GERD negotiations, Egyptian position in this regard

Egypt's Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry met, on Monday, with President of the Comoros Othman Ghazali, on the second leg of his tour to a number of African countries.
Ahmed Hafez, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that during the meeting, Shoukry delivered a message from President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi.
The message dealt with the current status of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) negotiations and reviewed the Egyptian position in this regard.
Hafez indicated that Shoukry also reviewed with Ghazali the most important issues in the recent Kinshasa meetings, which took place as part of efforts to resolve the dispute on the Ethiopian dam.
Shoukry highlighted the sincere political will that Egypt has shown during the meetings, to work towards launching a serious negotiation process. These negotiations have been aimed at setting up a binding legal agreement on filling and operating the controversial dam that preserves the rights and interests of the three countries.
He stressed Egypt's aspiration to work with various countries and parties concerned with the aim of reaching a solution to this issue to prevent harm to regional security and stability.
Hafez noted that the meeting also touched on bilateral relations between the two countries, with Shoukry affirming Egypt's pride in the distinguished relations that it holds with the Comoros Islands.
Shoukry also voiced his aspiration to strengthen these relations in various fields, in addition to exploring new areas for cooperation.
He expressed his hopes for continuing coordination and consultations between the two countries regarding regional and international issues of common interest.
