Al Ahly takes measures to renew player contracts
Published in Daily News Egypt on 11 - 03 - 2021

Cairo giants Al Ahly SC, headed by Mahmoud Al-Khatib, have taken new measures to renew the contracts of their players.
The club had previously failed to renew the contracts of three of its oldest players, namely Abdullah Al-Saeed, Ahmed Fathy, and Sherif Ekrami, who both play for Pyramids FC now, or Hossam Ashour, who now plays with Al-Ittihad Alexandria SC.
As a result, the Board of Directors at Al Ahly is putting in significant effort to maintain the stability of the team. The last period saw Aliou Diang, Hamdi Fathy, Ali Lotfi, and Mohamed Sherif all renewed their contracts, meaning they are no longer at risk of leaving the country on foreign offers.
For his part, Al-Khatib contacted Amr Al-Soulia to ask him to stay with Al Ahly, in light of the team's severe need for his services during the coming period.
Al Ahly's Board of Directors obtained the midfielder's approval for his contract's renewal, after Al-Khatib gave the green light to Amir Tawfik, director of contracts at the club to study and approve the player's demands. He noted that this had to be done in a way that does not cause internal strife with some players.
Meanwhile, it seems that Mahmoud Kahraba's days with the Cairo giants are numbered, especially after the recent crisis between the player and the club's coach Pitso Mosimane.
Al-Ahly decided to fine Kahraba EGP 200,000 and exclude him from participating in matches with the team for a month, due to his quarrel with the technical director.
A source at the team indicated that the planning committee is looking for several players to compensate for Kahraba's departure.
The source noted that Al-Ahly aims to sign a contract with Ismaili player Abdel Rahman Magdy, Tala'a Al-Geish's Ahmed Samir, or Ahmed Sayed Zizou of Zamalek, to cover.
