EETC builds new transformer stations to supply North Coast projects, Libya with electricity

The Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) has completed construction of several transformer stations to supply investment projects in the North Coast with electricity. The new projects, located in Borg El-Arab, Matrouh, and Salloum cities and costed EGP 2.5bn, will also feed the interconnection line with Libya.
Chairperson of EETC Sabah Mashali said the 220/66/22 kV Borg El-Arab Entertainment Transformer Station has been completed, alongside the expansion of the 220/66 kV El-Ameed Transformer Station. Both projects were completed at a cost of EGP 193m in investments.
The 40km long Abu Al-Matamir – West Borg El-Arab recreational aerial line, which has a voltage of 220 kV, was also completed at an investment of EGP 35.2m. Additionally, the37.5km long, 220 kV El-Ameed/Borg El-Arab recreational circuits was completed at an investment cost of EGP 28.2m.
Mashali emphasised that the 258.1km long, 220kV Matrouh – Borg El-Arab Recreational Circuit was also completed at an investment of nearly EGP 2.1bn.
The 66kV Bangar El-Sokar- Borg Al-Arab Industrial power line was opened at the Borg El-Arab recreational transformer station, at an investment cost of about EGP 3.6m.
Mashali added that the Matrouh transformer station and Borg El-Arab recreational transformer station had been expanded to a voltage of 220/66kV, and an investment cost of EGP 45m.
The EETC is working in line with the precautionary measures against the coronavirus to implement the projects on schedule. Their aime is to both support the transmission network by establishing modern electricity transmission lines and strengthen them, whilst establishing new transformer stations or expand existing ones. The work is to support transmission networks Electricity in Upper Egypt and the governorates most in need.
