Alexandria's Summer Opera Festival kicks off Friday
During the inauguration ceremony, Abdel Dayem will honour the head of the Egyptian Opera House, Magdy Saber, along with a number of artists who have enriched the musical scene in Egypt over decades.

While festivals, parties, and concerts reach peak season, Egypt's Ministry of Culture continues holding summer festivals which give a chance for thousands of people to enjoy all possible music genres. The Minister of Culture, Inas Abdel Dayem, is to inaugurate Alexandria's Summer Opera Festival on Friday at Sayed Darwish Theatre.
The festival kicks off with a number of musical concerts for both prominent and amateur singers. At the timeworn building which has witnessed the glory of the Mohammed Ali's architecture revolution, the festival aims to spread the classic music among young generations.
During the inauguration ceremony, Abdel Dayem will honour the head of the Egyptian Opera House, Magdy Saber, along with a number of artists who have enriched the musical scene in Egypt over decades.
The minister expressed in a press release her keenness in raising the people's awareness about all sorts of arts at different governorates, assuring that she targets youth mainly, as "they are the power of the future."
She added that honouring artistic figures is the country's payback to their efforts.
Veteran artist Samir Sabry will be among the hounoured artists.
The festival runs until 6 September with 10 concerts for several artists from the Middle East. Tunisian singer Ghalia Bin Ali will be among the performers on 30 August. From Egypt, singers Mohammed Mohsen, Khaled Selim, and Medhat Saleh are planned to meet their fans throughout August with the musician Amro Selim at the piano and his band.
