Published in Daily News Egypt on 12 - 09 - 2017

Japanese Foreign Minister Tarō Kōno concluded meetings with President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shoukry on Tuesday and Monday.
In his meeting with Shoukry Monday stressed upon the necessity for North Korea to commit to the UN Security Council resolutions on Pyongyang nuclear activities, according to the ministry. This comes in light of the recent nuclear tests conducted and UN sanctions imposed.
Meanwhile, Shoukry thanked the Japanese Minister for the Japanese support for the Cairo International Centre for Conflict Resolution, Peacekeeping and Peace building since 2008, a ministry-affiliated centre which provides trainings on diplomatic conflict resolution.
Shoukry further called on Japan's support for the Egyptian candidate for the presidency of the UNESCO Mushira Khattab.
On a further note, Al-Sisi told the minister he hoped Japanese investments in Egypt would increase.
The president expressed Egypt's proud of the Egyptian-Japanese cooperation in developing education, and keenness on benefiting from the Japan's experience in several fields including education. He also thanked the Japanese minister for his country's support for Egypt. Al-Sisi also expressed hope for increasing the Japanese investments in Egypt.
In March 2016, Al-Sisi visited Japan and met with the Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
