Japan's prime minister (PM), Shinzo Abe, said on Friday during his meeting with Egyptian parliament speaker Ali Abdul Aal that the Egyptian parliament created a suitable atmosphere for investment, which would lead to the increase of Japanese investments, according to a statement issued by the Egyptian parliament.
The visit to Japan by Abdul Aal and a delegation of Egyptian members of parliament (MPs) comes in response to an invitation by the head of the Japanese parliament in order to discuss bilateral relations and means of enhancing cooperation between the two countries in various fields.
Abdul Aal expressed Egypt's gratitude for the Japanese efforts in the fields of education, culture, and technology, adding that Egypt considers Japan as a "role model of development."
He also related Egypt's achievements on the political and economic reform levels, as well as its leading role in combating terrorism in the region.
Furthermore, the Japanese prime minister asserted that President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi's visit to Japan in 2016 established strong bilateral relations, adding that Japan fully supports Egypt's goals to achieve prosperity, considering it the cornerstone of stability in the Middle East.
Abdul Aal and the Egyptian delegation also met with the head of the Japanese parliament, Tadamori Oshima, on the sidelines of their visit and discussed economic cooperation.
In 2016, Al-Sisi delivered a speech before the Japanese parliament on boosting the relations and cooperation between both countries, which was the first speech to be given by an Arab president in the Japanese parliament.
Cooperation between Egypt and Japan is in the areas of trade, investment, technology, and education.
