Egyptian cabinet extends curfew hours in North Sinai until end of state of emergency
Decision comes after a terror attack killed, injured 26 military personnel on Friday

Curfew hours imposed by the state in North Sinai have been extended starting Monday until the end of the state of emergency that was declared recently. The curfew begins at 7.00pm and ends at 6.00am the next morning, except in Al-Arish and the International Road, where it begins at 1.00am and ends at 5.00am.
According to state media, Prime Minister Sherif Ismail extended on Sunday a curfew imposed on certain parts of the governorate of North Sinai, in a measure that followed a Friday terror attack, which according to the military has resulted in the killing and injury of 26 military personnel.
The attack was claimed by the Islamic State-affiliated militant group Sinai Province.
On Tuesday, Egypt's House of Representatives approved an extension of a nationwide state of emergency until the end of September, as a police officer and two conscripts were killed by a roadside bomb in North Sinai.
But a separate state of emergency in North Sinai was first implemented by a presidential decree issued in October 2014.
According to the decision, the curfew will be imposed on the area between Tal Rafah in eastern Sinai, through the international borderline, reaching to Al-Ouga in the west, reaching Jabal Al-Halal.
Also, the curfew includes the area from west of Al-Arish through to the coast and the border line in Rafah, and to the south from Jabal Al-Halal to Al-Ouga.
On Friday, clashes between militants belonging to the extremist group Sinai Province and army forces led to the killing or injury of at least 26 military personnel, as two suicide bombers targeted an outpost in southern Rafah, according to military spokesperson Tamer Al-Refaie.
This was followed by an exchange of fire, where 40 militants were killed, as reported by Al-Refaie.
