Central Egypt Electricity's allocations amount to EGP 600m for FY 2017/2018 The company considers a request to construct a 12 MW solar power plant: Fouda
The Ministry of Electricity allocated EGP 600m to the Central Electricity Distribution Company in the budget of 2017/2018. The plan includes the replacement of distribution panels, improvement of the main and secondary lines, the establishment of new medium voltage distributors and feeders, and the strengthening of the grids of cities and villages, said Medhat Fouda, the company's chairperson. The company works on providing electricity to all citizens in the New Valley, Fayoum, Beni Suef, Minya, and Assiut governorates, by replacing damaged cables to secure delivering the electricity supply. Medhat added that his company considers a request for the establishment of a solar power plant under the feed-in tariff with a capacity of 12MW. Amr al-Saadi filed the request to establish the plant in cooperation with the Chinese company TBEA, and a committee was formed from the company to study the offer. He pointed out that the project contract will be concluded after the fulfillment of all conditions and necessary measures for the establishment of the plant. The energy produced from the project will be added to the national electricity grid, according to energy purchase agreements. Medhat noted that the Central Egypt Electricity has installed pre-paid electricity metres in government agencies, including the ministries of supply and agriculture, to prevent the accumulation of debts on government agencies. He further added that the collection of house consumption bills amounted to 96% in the last month. He noted that all government agencies' dues until the end of the last fiscal year have been paid, adding that the current dues of fiscal year 2017/2018 amount to EGP 1.3bn.
