CAIRO: Suez Lime Company will set up a new plant to produce lime in the Suez governorate, with a capacity of 300 tons per day, according to a statement from Suez Cement. The first kiln, which will have a production capacity of 300 tons per day, will be ready by 2011, followed by the installation of a second kiln that will bring annual production capacity to 200, 000 tons. Lime is an aggregate used in steel, chemical, environmental, agri-food, paper and building sectors. "The establishment of the new lime plant will enable Suez Lime Company to expand its productivity and promote its advanced technologies, said Nabil Francis, managing director of Suez Lime. Suez Lime is a joint venture between global lime producer UNICALCE and Suez Cement, one of the largest cement producers in Egypt. Established in 2007, the company already has a plant operating in Cairo producing hydrated lime principally used for water treatment.
