The frozen funds belonging to the family of former president Hosni Mubarak and other figures residing in swiss banks amounts to 430m Swiss francs, Swiss attorney general Michael Lauber announced Saturday.
The news was released as part of the Swiss investigation into the case.
In June 2015, the Swiss attorney general decided to halt investigations into the case, but the Egyptian government appealed the decision. Swiss authorities, however, continued investigating the money laundering charges and the assets were kept frozen.
Later, Switzerland's Federal Supreme Court accepted the appeal and resumed investigating charges against Mubarak, his family, and other associates for supporting and forming a criminal organisation.
