CAIRO: A thug killed his drunken lover in his apartment by punching her to death after she allegedly went over to beg him not to break up with her, reported Al Gomhuria newspaper. Abdeen Police station reported that Ahmed Maher Hospital received a 38-year-old woman named Heba, who was found dead and covered with bruises. After a post mortem had been carried out, police pointed out Shehata Abdel Rahman as their prime suspect. He is 35, unemployed and has been arrested several times before for various crimes. Family members confirmed that the victim regularly visited Abdel Rahman in his apartment. The police arrested Abdel Rahman, who allegedly confessed to the crime. Police also said that he was linked to 16 other crimes. Abdel Rahman reportedly said that all he knew about the woman was her name and the fact that she lived in Sayyeda Zeinab. He met her in the street a long time ago and the two were involved, until he decided to end their relationship, asking her not to stop coming to his house. On the day of the incident, he claims Heba came to his house drunk late at night. Abdel Rahman says he asked her to leave, but she insisted on staying and begged him not to end their relationship. He then lost his temper and allegedly beat her to death. Abdel Rahman is being detained pending further investigation.
