Agro Land aims to increase exports to 132,000 tonnes
Published in Daily News Egypt on 01 - 02 - 2016

Agro Land, an agricultural processing company, aims to export 132,000 tonnes of products in 2016 compared to 120,000 in 2015 to represent a 10% growth.
Export Manager at Agro Land Hossam Al-Qady said the company participates in the Fruit Logistica exhibition annually to communicate with customers and open new markets. Agro Land grows oranges, potatoes, and onions and exports its products to Russia, Europe, East Asia, China, Bangladesh, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Iraq. The company also distributes its products in Sudan.
Al-Qady said competition from North and South American countries poses a major challenge for companies operating in the field of orange cultivation in Egypt, because conditions in the region allow oranges to be cultivated and there is no need for import companies.
He explained that Agro Land has been operating in the field of agricultural crops for more than 30 years and has land in Beheira, Ismailia, and Sharqeya. The company exports most of its products and distributes no more than 1% of its production in the domestic market.
Economic conditions in importing countries influence the profitability of agricultural crop companies and the weather sometimes presents an obstacle to distributing company products and transporting them to sales outlets, which makes the company vulnerable to losses.
The company has entered into contracts with a number of commercial companies in Russia and Europe and hopes to expand in the future.
