Egyptian killed in Kuwait over PlayStation brawl
Kuwaiti citizen killed Egyptian expat Atef by running him over with car
Published in Daily News Egypt on 02 - 11 - 2015

Egyptian expat Ahmed Atef was killed and two Egyptians nationals and one Kuwaiti citizen were seriously injured, allegedly as a result of a fight between Egyptian workers and two Kuwaitis in an electronics shop in Rehab Mall in Kuwait Saturday evening.
The fight purportedly broke out between a group of Kuwaitis and Egyptian expat worker Mohamed Amin when they purportedly differed over a set price of a PlayStation game console. The two Kuwaitis wanted to buy the console at half its price, but Amin refused. They then reportedly began insulting him, and Amin asked them to leave the shop.
Relatives of the victims told Daily News Egypt that the dispute escalated and moved outside the mall, where another Kuwaiti citizen got into his vehicle allegedly repeatedly ran over one of the Egyptian men involved in the altercation, named Ahmed Atef , killing him.
The injured persons, two Egyptians named Khaled Mohamed and Khalaf Mohamed and one Kuwaiti citizen, were transferred to Mubarak Hospital in Kuwait.
Unconfirmed sources told Daily News Egypt that Khalaf Mohamed died, but this is yet to be confirmed.
Security forces in Kuwait arrested 14 Kuwaitis and Egyptians in relation to the incident, and the driver of the vehicle. The investigation is ongoing, according to the Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior's statement.
The Egyptian Embassy in Kuwait released a statement, announcing its condolences to the victim's family. Egyptian diplomats are in contact with Kuwaiti officials to follow up on the investigations, and the Egyptian consulate assisted Atef's family in Kuwait to receive his death certificate and sent his body to Egypt. An official from the Egyptian consulate went to Hawally prison in Kuwait to follow up on those who were arrested.
Atef's cousin, Hesham El-Tohami, who also works in Rehab mall, told Daily News Egypt they did not witness any cooperation from the Egyptian embassy while filing Atef's death certificate.
El-Tohami said he did not receive any follow ups about the Kuwaiti prosecution investigation since the statement.
"I want my cousin's rights! All I want from Egypt is to take serious actions to punish the suspect and apply serve punishment on the driver," he said.
