Two young Egyptians were stabbed Friday evening due to a dispute between them and five Jordanians in Irbid, Jordan, according to the head of consular services at the Egyptian Embassy in Jordan Sherif Mokhtar.
It was reported that the first victim, Ayman Zahj Hamdy, was seriously injured after being stabbed in the neck, while the second, Sawris Kotb Sawris, sustained minor injuries.
Mokhtar highlighted that a delegation of consular representatives visited the two victims in Prince Hamzah Hospital in Amman, and confirmed that the Egyptian embassy, in cooperation with Jordanian forces, are following the investigation to identify the suspects.
Meanwhile, Kuwaiti forces arrested four Egyptians, including one woman, for "insulting Kuwait" on their Facebook accounts and calling on all the Egyptians living in Kuwait to demonstrate in front of the Egyptian Embassy, demanding severe punishment for the killer of Egyptian expat Ahmed Atef who was killed last week, according to a Kuwaiti Interior Ministry statement.
Last week, a Kuwaiti citizen ran over an Egyptian national following a dispute between Egyptians workers and two Kuwaitis in an electronics shop in Rehab Mall in Kuwait over the price of a PlayStation game console.
State media reported that the security forces in Kuwait arrested 14 Kuwaitis and Egyptians in relation to the incident, including the driver of the vehicle.
No statements have been made regarding the investigation with the vehicle driver or the arrested Kuwaitis. However, the Kuwaiti authorities decided to deport the arrested Egyptians.
The Foreign Minister told Daily News Egypt the decision to deport them came following the investigations proving the seven Egyptians' involvement in the dispute.
Labour advisor at the Egyptian Consulate in Kuwait met with Kuwaiti lawyer Jasim Al-Khabaz to discuss the issue. They agreed to follow up on the victim's dues and compensations in addition to compensating the injured Egyptians in accordance with the Kuwaiti insurance law.
