Egyptian petroleum exports decline as imports increase

The Egyptian petroleum exports decreased by 40.7% last June, amounting to $378.1m in comparison to the $638m recorded in June 2014, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) said in their monthly report.
The report added that the total number of petroleum imports has increased by 83.4% reaching $1.247bn last July compared to $698m the previous year.
There was also an increase in the total consumption of petroleum material. The number of materials being consumed went from 6.16m tonnes in June 2014 to 6.28m tonnes in July 2015.
Additionally, the production of petroleum materials has increased to 5.88m tonnes last July, in comparison to 5.73m tonnes produced in June.
However, on a yearly basis, the number has decreased in comparison with July 2014, during which production was at 5.9m tonnes.
During the same period, the production of natural gas also decreased from 2.99m tonnes in July 2014 to 2.8m tonnes in July of this year.
The consumption of natural gas increased in July 2015, reaching 3.08m tonnes in comparison to 2.93m tonnes consumed in July 2014.
There has also been an increase in the production of crude oil, butane gas and condensates in July 2015 from 2.9m to 3.07m tonnes, and diesel production from 627m to 652m tonnes in comparison with July 2014. This also indicates the increase in consumption of diesel this year, from 949,000 tonnes to 1.24m tonnes.
