Thirty-three Indian textile companies are participating in the 3rd edition of the Indian Textiles Exhibition in Egypt, entitled "Intexpo Egypt", as part of the larger Cairo Fashion and Textile exhibition, according to a Sunday statement.
The exhibition will be held at the Cairo International Conventions Center from 1-4 October.
The statement added that the participating Indian companies will showcase their latest range of yarn and fabrics, such as suits, shirts and dress materials, as well as furnishing and home textiles and yarns of man-made fibres.
The exhibition's objective is to strengthen trade between the two countries, particularly in the fast-growing area of modern textiles, according to the statement.
"Indian-Egyptian trade and investment relations are witnessing promising and continuous growth," said Indian Ambassador to Egypt Senjay Bhattacharayya, commenting on the exhibition.
The volume of bilateral trade between India and Egypt has amounted to $5bn, which makes India the second largest destination for the Egyptian exports worldwide, added the ambassador.
A number of Indian companies are active in Egypt, where there is potential for trade in textile material, machinery and other areas, said Bhattacharayya.
"I am confident that competent Indian companies will take advantage of the opportunities by presenting the latest innovations to the Egyptian market during this exhibition, to build durable and mutually-beneficial partnerships," he added.
Moreover, the Chairman of the exhibition's organising company, the Synthetic & Rayon Textiles Export Promotion Council, Anil Rajvanshi, said that senior representatives of the Indian participant companies will be present during the exhibition.
"The representative will meet the business community in Egypt in order to explore opportunities for joint-venture alliances, and to negotiate mutually-beneficial business deals," he added.
Meanwhile, the Indian textiles and clothing industry's output is $110bn, of which approximately $40bn is exported.
As for Indian textiles and clothing products' exports to Egypt, they have amounted to approximately $360m during fiscal year 2014/2015. Man-made fibre textiles were the dominant exported products with the value of $179m, followed by cotton at $167m, apparel at $9m, carpet at $3m and jute at $2m.
