There has been a marked increase in military cooperation between both states starting in 2015. The UK had temporarily suspended military aid to Egypt as a punitive measure following the forced dispersals of the Rabaa Al-Adaweya and Nahda sit-ins in August 2013. In June, President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi received an invitation from British Prime Minister David Cameron to visit London, but a date has yet to be set for the visit.
