Amro El-Geziry places Egypt at top of Modern Pentathlon
Egypt now holds 23rd place in the Modern Pentathlon games, with two silver medals and two bronze medals
Published in Daily News Egypt on 25 - 06 - 2015

Egyptian pentathlete Amro El-Geziry made a historical win as the top player in the Modern Pentathlon games, through achieving an advanced place in the game this year.
His latest achievement prior to the Modern Pentathlon was winning fourth place in the World Cup in Belarus, where he acquired 66 points.
El-Geziry made it to the top with 189 points, winning over Ukraine's Pavlo Tymoshenko, who took second place with 186 points. The third place was for Italy's Riccardo de Luca with 184 points.
El-Geziry's win was unprecedented in the history of men's competitions for the Modern Pentathlon games, and it was not his first personal achievement. Previously, he also won the silver medal in Warsaw, Poland, in 2014, in which Aleksander Lesun won the championship. Lesun now holds the fourth place in the monthly ranking, with 180 points. Egypt ranked in eighth place during the cup championship, in which only El-Geziry won a medal during the competitions.
Egypt now holds 23rd place in the Modern Pentathlon games, with two silver medals and two bronze medals. Egyptian pentathletes never won the gold medal in the Modern Pentathlon games. Hungary, on the other hand, won 124 medals, of which 51 were gold medals, followed by Poland with 67 medals, of which 33 were gold.
In April, El-Geziry was ranked the fourth in the Modern Pentathlon games which were held in Sarasote, Florida, USA, with a difference of 14 points from the first place which belonged to the British James Cooke.
In 2013, El-Geziry won the fourth place in the Kremlin Cup in Moscow, Russia, where the top 24 internationally ranked pentathletes participated.
Before El-Geziry, Egyptian pentathlete Omnia Fakhry was champion of the Modern Pentathlon and was the first to rank internationally for the game in Egypt and the first to win an international medal.
