An Egyptian doctor and his wife were killed and their daughter abducted in the Libyan city of Sirte Tuesday. The Egyptian Foreign Ministry is following the reported incident of the deaths and abduction, according to a statement released by the ministry. The statement read that the ministry is communicating with the Libyan authorities regarding the incident, urging them to investigate the matter and bring the criminals to justice. The Foreign Ministry reiterated its call for Egyptians residing in Libya to exercise extreme caution, and stay away from all places where clashes are taking place. The ministry warned Egyptians travelling to Libya in the light of the unstable situation in the country. Egypt has closed the Salloum border crossing to Libya Monday night. Marsa Matrouh Chief of Security Major Anany Hamouda, noted the tenuous security situation in Libya as the reason behind the move, according to state-run MENA. In September, an Egyptian citizen was shot dead in Sirte after engaging in an argument with two armed men. Violence has further increased in Libya following break-away General Khalifa Haftar's declaration of war on "terrorism". Many Egyptians have been victims of the violence in Libya, particularly in the city of Benghazi.
