Published in Daily News Egypt on 12 - 07 - 2014

The government has adopted a new strategy to follow up on the implementation of its major projects, Minister of Planning Ashraf El-Araby said in a Saturday press conference.
El-Araby explained that the ministry has developed an electronic system, under the name of Projects Management Information System Egypt (PROMISE), to improve the level of following up on ongoing projects in each governorate.
These statements were made during a planning ministry press conference to discuss the government's FY 2014/2015 Social and Economic Development Plan.
The plan is targeting a 14% surge in total investments in the current fiscal year, marking EGP 337bn compared to EGP 267bn, El-Araby said.
The minister noted that the plan also targets to control the unemployment crisis through creating around 18 million job opportunities, of which 550,000 will be created in FY 2014/2015. In the same regard, El-Araby said the government will issue a decision to establish a holding company, aiming to create job opportunities.
In the plan, the government has allocated EGP 13.8bn to the transportation sector, EGP 12.7bn to the housing sector, EGP 10bn to the water and sanitation sector, EGP 3.8bn to the health sector and EGP 1.6bn to the electricity and energy sector.
