Skyfall
Skyfall
The new James Bond film is finally here after a long period of denial of the atrocity that was Quantum of Solace. The latest film has been credited with being one of the best Bond films and has been very well-received by critics. Though it took fans a bit of time to accept a blonde Bond, we personally think that anything after Pierce Brosnan is an improvement.
The plot this time around revolves around a more personal quest than usual, which tests Bond's loyalty to M, played by the ever-talented (and let's face it, also everlasting) Judi Dench. As her past catches up with her to haunt her, Bond has to get rid of the threat at any cost.
Not only has the film received top marks from all critics, it has a 98 per cent “certified fresh" rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Peter Debruge of Variety said, “putting the ‘intelligence' in MI6, Skyfall reps a smart, savvy and incredibly satisfying addition to the 007 oeuvre," while Todd McCarthy of the Hollywood Reporter had this to say, “[the film] feels more seriously connected to real-world concerns than any previous entry, despite the usual outlandish action scenes, glittering settings and larger-than-life characters."
Keep in mind that this is Bond's 50th anniversary so you know you are in for a treat with Ian Flemming's creation reaching his fifth decade and acknowledging it in signature style.

Paranormal Activity 4
Paranormal Activity 4
The fourth in a series of films trying desperately to resuscitate what little entertainment the first Paranormal Activity provided. The plot tells of the aftermath of Katie and Hunter's disappearance at the end of a previous film (we honestly cannot be bothered to remember which), and moves on to tell the aftermath of a new family who start to witness strange (and we're guessing also paranormal) activity.
Even with this wildly inventive plotline, the film has received very negative reviews.
Stay away from this one unless grainy laptop and cell phone footage is your idea of cinema. If it is, then by all means you have earned this one. As James Berardinelli of ReelViews very aptly said, “they could have called this Paranormal Inactivity."

Hotel Transylvania
Hotel Transylvania
A five-star resort run by Dracula, where monsters can live it up without pesky humans, is what you get when Adam Sandler is trying way too hard. The count (voiced by Sandler), invites Frankenstein and his bride, the invisible man, mummies, et cetera to his resort to celebrate his daughter's 118th birthday, but the trouble begins when a human stumbles upon the place and takes a liking to Dracula's daughter.
The film has garnered mediocre reviews and we think you better table this one until it shows up on MBC2 and you have nothing better to do, especially with a 43 per cent rating on Rotten Tomatoes. After all, as one critic put it, “Even the animation is ugly."
