CAIRO: Ahly manager Hossam Al-Badri revealed that striker Gamal Hamza decided to leave the club because he felt there was too much competition for a first-team place. Hamza, who signed from Gouna this summer, suddenly rescinded his contract with the Red Devils, citing his imminent exclusion from the Champions League squad as the main reason behind the decision. Reports of a rift with the manager and a team member were mentioned, but Al-Badri was quick to refute the rumors and explain the situation. "I am astonished with the invented stories about Hamza's exit," the Ahly boss told the club's official site. "Hamza felt it was difficult for him to compete for a place in the first team, so he made his decision.
