CAIRO: Siemens Industrial Solutions & Services in Egypt has won a deal on the electromechanical works for the Egyptian Museum that will cost about $55 million. Wael Abu Bakr, business development officer at Siemens in Egypt, said the amount represented as much as 10 percent of the total cost for the museum's construction estimated at $550 million. He pointed out that Siemens would carry out the operation in partnership with Egyptian Industrial Construction & Engineering Company. Under the deal agreement, Siemens will provide blueprints, supply and install electrochemical installations for the museum's main building and other facilities. Siemens Industrial Solutions & Services is one of the major operations at the international conglomerate, with a world turnover of 8.8 billion euros during fiscal year 2006 that ended in September. The Egyptian government is expected to open up the new museum, located in the proximity of the Pyramids, in 2009. The museum that will extend over 117 feddans, will include at least 100,000 pieces for exhibition from the Pharoanic, Greek and Roman eras.
