CAIRO: Egypt's Administrative Court annulled on Wednesday President Mohamed Morsi's call for election, referring the parliamentary elections law to the High Constitutional Court. The move is likely to push the country into even more political turmoil as protesters and police continue to clash in the country on Wednesday. The verdict followed over a dozen complaints questioning the legality of the law organizing the elections. Abdel-Meguid el-Muqanen, presiding judge of the administrative court, said that the law must be reviewed by the Supreme Constitutional Court to determine its conformity to the constitution. Meanwhile, he ordered the suspension and annulment of the presidential decree calling for elections. The government can appeal the verdict, but the ruling will dampen any efforts by the ruling government to push forward on an election that comes in the midst of continuous violence and unrest. BN
