RAMALLAH: On Tuesday night, Israeli military forces launched several raids on villages across the occupied West Bank, detaining at least six Palestinians, Ma'an News Agency reports. According to witnesses and the Israeli army, Ma'an states, one raid on the village of Sura, near Nablus, resulted in the arrest of 29-year-old Mohammad Abu Hussein, 28-year-old Mutasim Abu Hussein, and 30-year-old Ala Abdullah. Simultaneous raids took place in Qabatiya, Bethlehem, and Al-Khader, and three arrests, one in each location, occurred, although the names have yet to be released. Around 2:00 am on Wednesday morning, Al-Mughayyir, a village situated on the outskirts of Jenin, was raided by some 400 Israeli soldiers. They conducted a house-to-house search on over 50 homes, witnesses told Ma'an, and made several families stand outside in the rain until they had completed their searches and, in some cases, interrogated their relatives. Villagers complained that they were forced to stand outside holding a piece of paper with their ID numbers before they were photographed by soldiers. Although no arrests were reported, recent months have seen a sharp uptick in Israeli raids. Last week, Hassan Karajah, a youth coordinator for the grassroots Stop the Wall organization, was detained in a raid on his home that resulted in the destruction of furniture and clothing as well as the confiscation of many of their belongings, notably three computers. According to his family, the women were partially strip searched while the soldiers “photographed documents, letters, family photos, and awards." Karajah is presently being held without charge in the Jamleh Interrogation Center near Jenin. BN
