RAMALLAH: On Sunday night Israeli military forces arrested 12 Palestinians during raids across the occupied West Bank, a Facebook update posted by Addameer said. Six Palestinian citizens were arrested in Qaryut, a village situated south of Nablus, all of whom between the ages 18 and 25, when soldiers entered their respective homes. Another Nablus village was raided, Asira al-Shamaliya, and two were arrested. In the city of Nablus, soldiers arrested Mohammed Abu Al Hayat, 20-years-old. A 20-year-old university student, Mohammed Khalid Qibha, was arrested in Jenin. In Bethlehem, Israeli forces arrested a 22-year-old early Monday morning. Since the tenuous Egyptian-brokered ceasefire put an end to Israel's 8-day military offensive against the Gaza Strip, scores of Palestinians have been detained in sweeping arrest campaigns across the West Bank. Within two days of the ceasefire's implementation, over 50 were arrested. During the 8-day period, around 200 Palestinians were reportedly arrested, according to Addameer and other monitors. As recently as November this year, 4,520 Palestinians are in Israeli detention centers, 164 of which are children. 156 are in administrative detention, a draconian practice in which prisoners are not charged and “secret evidence" is used against them.
