ADDIS ABABA: Uganda's telecom market is one of Africa's most competitive, with operators pushing new promotions in an effort to boost their subscriber base. Airtel Uganda, a relative newcomer to the market, is hoping that its new services as part of My Airtel My Offer (MAMO) will help push the company into the forefront of the telecom sector in Uganda. It announced the launch of MAMO and Gimme 5 as part of its new offerings ahead of the new year in what it said it hopes will create mobility and a better presence on the ground to attract new users and maintain its subscriber base. “My Airtel My Offer is a tool that enables prepaid and postpaid customers to know and buy any Airtel product or service directly off their phones, without going through the call center or visiting Airtel shops," the company said in announcing the promotion. “Gimme 5 offers Airtel customers five times their daily average airtime usage through top-ups bonuses," Airtel Uganda added. It comes on the heels of efforts by the government and telecom operators to deliver new and unique services to the country's fast-growing telecom and mobile services in the country.
